Matt Combe

Ryan is accomplished multi-instrumentalist and composer with a diverse musical background as both a creative artist and an educator. As a performer, he has shared the stage with many incredible musicians, including Terri Lynne Carrington, Kobie Watkins, Michael Phillip Mossman, and others. He is an alumnus of the prestigious Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead Program at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, and performs regularly with a wide variety of groups, including jazz, classical, and chamber ensembles. Ryan is also an active composer, specializing in music for film and visual media. He has a master’s degree in film music composition, and his passion for creative collaboration and audio technology have led him to work on numerous
student and independent projects that have been screened at film festivals around the world. As an educator, Ryan has taught in various settings, from masterclasses in jazz music for middle and high school students, to university classrooms as a private instructor of both saxophone and film music. He finds great joy in sharing his knowledge and experience with others. Each student has distinctive experiences, perspectives, and learning styles that impact their ability to learn new skills and concepts. Ryan strives to adapt his teaching methods to the needs of the students, while challenging them to excel professionally and personally. Above all, Ryan loves music, and he
wants to share his knowledge, passion, and excitement with students. Whether they are learning a new instrument, composing original music, or using technology to capture and manipulate sound in exciting ways, it is Ryan’s goal to equip his students with valuable skills and tools that
that promote creativity and originality.
